02:49 pm: Desperate Romantics and Sea-men!
For anyone interested, BBC2 is running a drama on the Pre-Raphealites. From the description in seekingophelia it seems as if it will be quite campy in its melodrama. In fact, it was described as like watching 'an extended boy-band video. I don't care, I'm up for it--the Pre-Raphealites were a bit over the top in real life anyway.

I've been having the strangest dreams lately. Last night's fare was unusual and hard to really verbalize so I'll do the best I can with it. There were amorphous creatures that lived underwater. When they ascended to land they took human (or humanoid) form. Their skin was a luminous metallic and glowed continuously. The glow would eventually fade as the creatures began to die, but they could go back into the water to replenish themselves. The underwater pieces are really hard to put into words. It's as if their bodies melted into the water in swirls of color. Pitch black with neon pink tentacles or blue-green with traces of orange on its lips and hair. Any time I dream of water it never fails that there are ghastly things below the surface; giant eels or sea-serpents...[[I had recurring nightmares about deep water monsters when I was a kid so the dreams still leave me a bit unsettled. To this day I still won't swim in murky waters.]] Darker creatures surfaced in dirty water beneath a railroad trestle. Anyone remember Wes Craven's People Under the Stairs? The ones rising from the dark water looked exactly like the boys under the stairs with white skin and black eyes. When I woke up this morning I felt like I was in a Lovecraft story.

Last but certainly not least, today is my Dad's 67th birthday! Happy birthday Dad! And best wishes for many, many more to come.
