07:11 am: Nyxie pixie update:
The ER Doc called me several times during the night to get my okay on things to do. He needed to check Nyx's blood again and after he got the results, he called to tell me that he needed to give her a plasma transfusion because she was going into DIC (?) He told me what it meant, but big words, no sleep and shot-glass memory...let's just say it was bad. He said he'd call if anything happened and I ended up calling just before 6am. He said she responded well to the transfusion, but she's still pooping (diluted) blood and he thinks they treated her before she went into full mode with the DIC. The blood through her nose has mostly stopped. He okayed me to come visit so I got there around 6:30. They opened the cage door and little Nyx wanted to leap into my arms and she was so sleepy! They said her blood pressure was so low during the night that when she tried to sleep they'd rouse her up. (Nyx has a tendency to go to sleep sitting up--she's a rescue dog so I think she's always on guard even though she's been in a peaceful and safe environment for seven or so year, but they were concerned when she'd nod off upright).

They want her to stay at least another day and perhaps several more depending on her response to everything. She looked a lot better though--she was sitting up and much more responsive than yesterday and she was happy to see me. She wagged her tail and pressed her li'l head right up against my tummy. I dispensed lots of lovin' with the ear and belly rubs.

Thanks, everything is sounding a lot better, but she's not quite out of the woods yet.

Poor bebbeh! Both of you! I'm sure she'll be fine now, but I know that worry you're going through. ::hugs::

Yeah, it's my child--she just happens to be covered in fur and has four legs...but lots of people don't understand our animals are family members too!

Yeah, while she's still in the woods, so to speak, the fact she's improving is *always* a good sign. HUG!

Yep, that's what the doc says too. She has shown lots of improvement since yesterday and that's always good. I just feel so bad having to leave her there, especially when she's clinging to me wanting to go with me. But, whatever is best for my li'l baby!
